1) Drink lots of cold water.
2) Place an ice pack or ice pillow on the head.
3) Take 100 mg. of caffeine or drink strong tea or 12 ounces of coffee.
4) Take any of the following:
a) 25-50 mg. of Benadryl (diphenhydramine).
b) 400 mg. of Magnesium Citrate.
c) 600 mg. of Ibuprofen (most common brand: Advil) or 520 mg. of Naproxen (most common brand: Aleve).
d) 1,000 mg. of Acetaminophen (most common brand: Tylenol).
Again, prescription medications are the best way to battle migraines, but in a pinch, over-the-counter options often do the trick.
