APHASIA |
IntroductionTechnically, the term aphasia means unable to produce any meaningful speech. Dysphasia is a more appropriate term to use and refers to individuals who sustained injury to the neural tracts within the brain and brainstem involved with creating language. This is different than dysarthria which is the medical term for slurring. Individuals who slur still create normal language, however, in the case of dyarthria the brainstem tract responsible for moving the tongue has been injured.
